Troop 608 is chartered to The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Florida, which is the Cathedral church of the Catholic Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee.

Troop 608 is in the Esca-Rosa District of the Gulf Coast Council #773, which stretches from Southern Alabama to the Central Panhandle of Florida.

The troop held its first charter in 1956. Since that time, 75 young men have attained the rank of Eagle Scout under the auspices of Troop 608, with our most recent Eagle successfully completing his board of review in December 2007.

After a few years of inactivity in the late '80s and early '90s, the troop was rechartered in January 1995, with six members and is still going strong today.

The troop has a very active outdoor program with a well-rounded advancement program. Troop 608 emphasizes personal development by participation in meetings, outdoor activities, service projects, and other Scouting events. In Troop 608, the program is planned and run by the boy leadership.

Troop 608 participates in at least one overnighter activity per month, as planned by the Patrol Leaders' Council. In addition, Troop 608 is extremely active in Council and District events, including Camporees, Scout Shows, Fund Raisers, and Order of the Arrow Activities.
